Gilda

There are pieces that stay with you long after the final stitch, and this gown is one of mine. Inspired by Rita Hayworth’s unforgettable black Gilda dress and the beauty of Jacques Fath’s couture gowns, this design became a love letter to Old Hollywood glamour reimagined through a modern couture lens.

I wanted the drama of Gilda’s iconic silhouette without recreating it outright, so I blended the sultry style of the fitted bodice and semi fitted skirt with Fath’s signature soft refined classiness with the draped red satin that goes across the front. The result is a gown that feels cinematic and classy. Black beaded lace layered under a rich red satin, a pearl‑kissed waist sash, and a slit that brings just the right amount of attitude.

This project reminded me why I adore this type of work — the draping, the problem‑solving, the quiet moments where a garment suddenly becomes itself. It’s one of my favorite creations and a piece that captures everything I love about merging history, craftsmanship, and storytelling.
